Character
Name: Weevil Underwood
Series: Yu-Gi-Oh!
Timeline:  Season 4 - Yami Yugi has just overkilled him in their traintop duel, and his soul has just been taken by the Orichalcos
Canon Resource Links: http://yugioh.wikia.com/wiki/Yu-Gi-Oh!_(anime)

Personality:  Most people familiar with Weevil Underwood's dueling career describe him as a vindictive little creep who puts nothing beneath him in order to gain an edge.    His  meek, bookworm exterior and small stature hide an aggressive, calculating perfectionist who is unable to accept failure gracefully and will happily resort to cheating if it means wiping out competition that he can't formulate a reliable strategy against.  A loss sends him into a tailspin of rage,  leading to reckless decisions and half-baked plans of revenge that often end in further humiliation (or, in some cases, the loss of his very soul).

Weevil is very passionate about two things - Duel Monsters and insects.  He has little care for human companionship, often looking down on people as a whole, deeming them "disgusting" and "worthless" while extolling the virtues of insect society.  He would much prefer to spend a day alone in a meadow communing with butterflies, moths, grubs, and grasshoppers than among his peers, finding his bugs to be much more rewarding company.   However, not even bugs are sacred to Weevil as he keeps a mounted butterfly collection and enjoys Hachinoko (smoked bee larvae) as his favorite snack.  He seems to prefer to see himself as a participant in their food chain rather than an outside admirer.

The only person's company he tolerates on a regular basis is fellow disgraced duelist and partner-in-crime, Rex Raptor, for two reasons - Rex's goals align with his own, and Rex tends not to question the authority Weevil claims in most of their interactions.

Despite his seeming independence, Weevil is still highly immature and has been known to, not only neglect essentials such as food or weather-appropriate clothes before haring off on a long journey, but also to cry out for his mother whenever disorientation or panic sets in.

STRENGTHS

Determined: Weevil will work diligently at his tasks of interest, aspiring to master them and outclass his competitors

Focused:  Once he has locked onto a goal, it's difficult to divert his attention from it as he will give it his full, undivided attention until he's done.

Resourceful:   He does not have much going for him physically, though instead of letting it hold him back, Weevil is known to use his seeming weaknesses and shortcomings to curry pity or complacency from those around him until they deem him a harmless, shy nerd and let their guard down.

Intelligent:   Weevil is both strategic and has good retention for knowledge.  He is a neverending database of insect factoids and card game maneuvers.

Resilient:   He refuses to lay down and accept a bad outcome if he thinks there is any chance at all of changing it for the better.   Giving up is never an option, even when it would be the sensible thing to do.

WEAKNESSES

Obsessive:  Weevil is not known for letting things drop.  Ever.   If he feels slighted by someone or something, he will not rest until he's either seen revenge to his satisfaction, or has ended up comatose in a hospital somewhere while trying (and even then, it will be the first thing on his mind when he wakes up).

Selfish:  He is concerned only with his own well-being and satisfaction, and never tries to spare others' feelings or even give thought to the fact there are other people to be considered.

Bad-tempered:   Weevil is a prickly guy with a poor grasp on his anger.   He makes no effort to contain his outbursts and has been known to yell, insult, or throw full-on tantrums with little provocation.

Socially Awkward:  He has little idea of how to relate to others and often takes his gloating and insults to deeply personal levels, ruining potential friendships before they can even begin and then not understanding why the other party took it so hard.   The main reason he and Rex get on so well is because their friendship is founded largely on the two of them hurling blame and insults at one another, which is fully within his element.

Physically Weak:   Weevil is strangely short for his age and is fairly scrawny, making it difficult for him to accomplish tasks that demand a lot of him bodily.  He often pushes himself beyond his physical limits when pursuing a goal, leading to exhaustion.

Childish:   Weevil is known to cry when he doesn't get his way, carry petty grudges, and

Samples
RP Sample: The sample must be a thread, with at least five comments from you, that you have made anywhere with this character in the last four months at the canon point you have chosen for said character. Linking to a post or log containing multiple threads will also suffice, as long as at least one of the threads has the required number of comments. This thread sample can be in any format (e.g. network post, prose log, actionspam, Dear Mun post, and so on). While it does not have to be set in Victory Road's setting, you can use a Victory Road test drive thread for this sample, as long as it's a different thread than one used for the second sample below. What we are looking for here is grasp of your character's voice and a sense of how you operate as a role-player. If we feel that the sample provided is not adequate, we reserve the right to ask for another.

Victory Road Sample: This sample must take place in Victory Road's setting and can be EITHER a written post OR another thread if you would prefer not to write a post. The minimum is 300 words for a prose sample, eight sentences for a network post/actionspam sample, or ten comments total (five from you) in an RP sample. What we are looking for here is how the character responds to the Pokéworld's setting. You can also use a Victory Road test drive thread for this sample, but you cannot use the same thread for the first sample above.
